About the book
**Redeeming the Abuser, Restoring the Abused** is a book I wrote to explore the painful realities of abuse, the wounds it leaves behind, and the difficult conversations we must be willing to have about both the abuser and the abused. Through poetry, reflections, and Scripture, I examine the pain that can shape a person's life, the patterns that may influence abusive behaviour, and the lasting emotional and spiritual consequences experienced by those who have been harmed. I want to encourage honest self-examination while acknowledging the deep wounds that abuse can leave on the hearts and minds of its victims. My desire is to create space for readers to confront painful truths, recognize unhealthy patterns, and begin examining the experiences they may have buried for years. I also want to challenge the tendency to silence victims, excuse harmful behaviour, or place the burden of restoration on those who have already suffered. I believe that healing requires truth, accountability, and a willingness to confront what is broken. While redemption is possible, it must never become an excuse to minimize abuse, avoid responsibility, or pressure victims into reconciliation before they are safe and ready. This book is an invitation to reflect, question, write, and begin the process of understanding the wounds we carry and the behaviours we must confront. My hope is that it will encourage those who have been hurt to recognize that their pain matters, their voices deserve to be heard, and their healing is worth pursuing. Through this work, I hope to encourage the abused to find a path toward restoration and challenge abusers to take responsibility for the harm they have caused. Above all, I want readers to understand that **forgiveness does not erase accountability, redemption does not excuse abuse, and healing should never require a person to remain in harm's way.**
