Mum surrounded by chaos

The Shit Mums Club Could Confidential

by Anastasia Paul

About the book

Nobody warns you that motherhood is mostly apologising to teachers, reheating tea, and hiding in the bathroom eating chocolate buttons while your children scream "MUMMMMMM" through the door. Anastasia Paul is bipolar, permanently overwhelmed, emotionally attached to tiramisu, and raising neurodivergent twin boys with her long-suffering husband Richard — a lorry driver who's seen less chaos on motorways than in his own kitchen. Between burnt toast disasters, school-run catastrophes, dog scandals, emotional breakdowns, and Westlife-fuelled survival tactics, Anastasia accidentally creates The Shit Mums Club — a safe haven for imperfect parents everywhere. Raw. Funny. Honest. Chaotic. This isn't the polished version of motherhood. This is the real one.

About the author

Anastasia Paul is a Norfolk-based author, professional chaos coordinator, and mum to twin boys who seem determined to turn every ordinary day into a full-scale adventure. Living with her long-suffering husband and their whirlwind family, she has become an expert in surviving school runs, household disasters, questionable life choices, and the kind of moments that are only funny once you've stopped crying. When she's not writing, she's usually drinking tea that's gone cold, searching for something she's just put down, or wondering how the dog managed to create another crisis before breakfast. Anastasia writes laugh-out-loud, brutally honest stories about family life, motherhood, neurodiversity, mental health, and the beautiful chaos that comes with trying to hold it all together when everything is falling apart. Her books are packed with humour, heart, and the reassuring reminder that nobody really knows what they're doing. She is the author of Some Days Are Just Custard, The Dog's a Dick and the Kids Are Feral, and The Shit Mums Club: Confidential - books for readers who love witty observations, relatable disasters, and characters who muddle through life one catastrophe at a time. If you've ever hidden in the bathroom for five minutes of peace, forgotten why you walked into a room, cried over something ridiculous, or laughed so hard at family chaos that you snorted tea through your nose, you'll probably feel right at home in Anastasia's world.
