About the book

A cozy, slice-of-life Settlement LitRPG where talking to neighbors and planning trade routes literally levels you up faster than fighting monsters. At fifty-six, Mark has no interest in becoming a hero. He has been pulled into an unfamiliar world and simply wants to build a quiet, stable life while figuring out what the strange System expects from him. He begins with nothing. No food, no shelter, no tools, and no one to rely on. Instead of panicking, he takes things one step at a time, learning the System's mechanics to build simple tools, set basic alarms, and secure a safe place to sleep. This is not a combat-focused survival story. There is danger, but Mark’s approach is practical rather than aggressive. He chooses to understand his environment rather than fight it. His biggest challenges are solving practical problems, organizing people, building settlements, and helping survivors create something that can last. Other survivors begin to appear, each with their own skills, habits, and ways of seeing the world. Mark learns that building a community is less about giving orders and more about helping people find a place where they can contribute and feel secure. What begins as one mature man over-preparing by crafting five tools for every one he needs expands into a cooperative network of structured camps, settlements, roads, and workshops. Beyond them are unexplored regions, a mysterious resetting cave, and a System whose larger purpose unfolds comfortably, one day at a time. Not Meant to Survive is a low-stakes, civilization-building LitRPG story about practical problem-solving, community growth, and watching scattered survivors slowly evolve into a functioning society. If you enjoy a low-stress, cozy story about watching a mature protagonist systematically optimize a camp and bring people together to build a community, this story is for you. If you are looking for high-stress tension, nonstop combat, or rapid power growth, this probably is not the right story.
