The authors
Meet the indie authors
The independent writers behind the books: their stories, in their words.

Sterling Vance
Sterling Vance writes fiction where order and collapse share a border. His third novel, A Perfectly Useless War (September 2026), follows a U.S. military operation that keeps running long after its purpose has disappeared — a geopolitical thriller about competence as its own kind of horror. He's also the author of the cyberpunk series Signal & Static (Echoes of Erasure, The Silent Vigil), with a Tartan Noir series set in Glasgow and a YA medical urban fantasy in the works. When he isn't fighting rogue AIs or plotting crimes on the page, Sterling is trying to convince his household electronics that they really don't need to be replaced. Not just yet.

Sue Robertson Danells
Hi. I'm a retired teacher who came to the writing world late in life. It was never planned. It simply happened when I discovered a family secret from the the 1800s, but writing that first book propelled me into something I came to enjoy. When the stories continued to fill my head, I scrawled away and today am working on my seventh book. I've written in more than one genre, perhaps because that's just the way stories present themselves, so as well as that first historical fiction there is now a crime trilogy (two published - one b eing finished), a psychological drama and a literary fiction about three generations of one family. Writing has become the avenue that keeps me going while the next decade relentlessly approaches. As a self published author, I don't sell many books - it certainly isn't a reliable source of income, but when my work is read, it receives positive feedback, and that's all I ask. If you come across my novels and perhaps read them, I hope you enjoy them as much as I've enjoyed writing them. Sue

Sufia Borbhuiya
I'm a beginner writer exploring the beautiful world of storytelling. I love creating characters, imagining different worlds, and turning random thoughts into stories. This is just the beginning of my writing journey, and I'm happy to have you here.

Susan Nefzger
Susan Nefzger's self-awareness journey began in the 1980s — sparked by Dr. Brian Weiss's Many Lives, Many Masters and deepened through years of studying spiritual traditions, including the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda. Decades of inner work, professional achievement, and worldwide searching led her to a single transformative moment: a writing retreat at Glastonbury Abbey in May 2015, where the words of her first book arrived in a torrent of inspiration. What followed was a complete life transformation and a four-book series that has helped readers examine the patterns, fears, and inherited beliefs quietly running their lives. Her books — A Practical Guide to Awareness, Putting Awareness Into Practice, A Practical Guide to Living Fearlessly, and the forthcoming A Practical Guide to Love & Relationships (Summer 2025) — form a practical, deeply human roadmap for anyone ready to do the inner work. A former public relations professional with 30 years of experience, Susan now works as a Focus & Self-Awareness Coach for executives and writers, offering 1:1 coaching, workshops, and retreats. She is based in Atlanta and Charleston, S.C., where the magic of the low country fuels her writing, photography, and her work with others.

Sylvia
Sylvia Christopher I’m Sylvia Christopher, an avid reader who enjoys discovering books and authors that deserve more attention. I’m especially drawn to stories and ideas that stay with you long after the final page, whether they come from emerging writers or authors who are still finding their audience. Over time, I’ve developed a habit of looking beyond the books that are already everywhere and searching for those quieter gems that may not yet have reached the readers who would genuinely appreciate them. When I come across a book that stands out to me, I enjoy learning more about the author, their work, and the journey behind the book. I also like connecting with authors whose work I believe has the potential to reach a much wider audience. For me, discovering an overlooked book is one of the most rewarding parts of being a reader.

T.M. Holt
T. M. Holt is a Southern fiction author, U.S. Army veteran, and founder of Black Dog River Press, an independent publishing house based in Decherd, Tennessee. Born and raised in the foothills of southern Middle Tennessee, Holt has lived a life filled with experiences that continue to shape her storytelling. She served in the U.S. Army in Central America and Germany, spent years driving long-haul trucks across America, and now works as a physical therapist assistant caring for older adults. An endurance athlete with a fondness for difficult challenges, Holt has completed an Ironman triathlon, ultramarathons, long-distance cycling events, and marathon swims. Her debut novel, Where the River Bends, draws inspiration from the people, places, and complicated family relationships of her Tennessee upbringing. Set in 1978, the novel explores childhood, addiction, forgiveness, and the enduring power of hope. Whether writing Southern literary fiction as T. M. Holt or mysteries as T. W. Hughes, her stories return to the things that matter most: family, loyalty, memory, second chances, and the places we call home. After years of traveling far and wide, Holt returned to her Tennessee roots, settling just a mile from where she was born. She lives with her spouse and their beloved dogs, who occasionally insist on supervising the writing process.

Tal Stineman
Hi, I'm Tal, an indie author from Youngstown, Ohio. I have a love for complex characters, compelling stories, and shenanigans. I write across genres but my first love is suspense. And sci-fi. And romance. And words, really. I explore identity, found family, belonging, and the relationships that make us who we are. I love characters who feel real, flaws and all, and I believe that even the darkest stories have room for a little laughter. Especially at inappropriate times. I'm the author of How Far the Sky, and two upcoming novels, The Shattered Horizon, and the Man Called Nine - and about twenty WIPs. Thanks for stopping by. Please hang around for the emotional damage.

Tariq Kakish
I write stories that explore the darker corners of imagination, human nature, and the worlds we create when reality is no longer enough. My work moves across dark fantasy, gothic fiction, romance, and stories built around unusual ideas—always with a focus on atmosphere, complex characters, and questions that stay with you long after the final page. I believe the best stories should do more than entertain. They should challenge you, unsettle you, and sometimes make you look at the world a little differently. If you enjoy stories that take you somewhere unexpected, welcome. There is always another world waiting to be opened.

Theno “TJ” J. Velisté
I’m TJ (Theno J. Velisté), a neurodivergent quieter/indie author working on their "Thenoverse" of original works. TJ's current work is a flagship "trope-deconstructing" high-fantasy LN series I've been writing since 2021, and put my full attention into in 2023. TJ is also writing a collection of several original universes (some with unique combinations) all tied under their personal "Thenoverse", which have had all of the narrative beats, lore, history, and more worldbuilding elements planned out for them.

Thiagarajah Chelladurai
Thiagarajah Chelladurai writes fiction about people, relationships and the choices that shape ordinary lives. His stories move across different places, cultures and generations, exploring love, friendship, family, heritage, change and the search for meaning. He writes with a contemplative approach, allowing characters and circumstances to unfold without telling readers what conclusions they should reach. For him, a story is also an invitation—to enter another life for a while, and perhaps leave with a question worth thinking about. His books and Reader’s Guides can be explored through his author website.

Thomas L. Vaultonburg
Thomas L. Vaultonburg is a poet, novelist, and independent publisher from Rockford, Illinois. He is the founder of Zombie Logic Press and Zombie Logic Review and co-founder of Wolf Twin Books. For decades, he has worked outside the traditional publishing establishment, writing and publishing literature that doesn't always behave itself. His books include the horror novel Necromancers Don't Read Toe Tags, the poetry collections Vanished Roads, Small Songs for Weary Travelers, and Submerged Structure. His poetry has appeared in literary journals internationally, including Presence, Acorn, Kokako, and Wales Haiku Journal. His fiction explores the absurdities of institutional power, the secrets communities keep, and the peculiar ways human beings accommodate the unacceptable. His poetry moves between humor, grief, nature, and the strange little revelations of everyday life. He continues to write, publish, and promote independent literature from Rockford, where he believes interesting things are happening whether anyone is paying attention or not.
