L. M. Carver writes amateur-sleuth mysteries for readers who like smart clues, adult characters, and a mystery that can begin with something as small as a sentence that sounds wrong. The Havenwood Mysteries follow Tessa Vorn, a 58-year-old former corporate communications director whose years of reading language, comparing accounts, and noticing what doesn’t fit make her hard to fool. She isn’t looking for crimes to solve. Havenwood keeps putting questions in front of her that refuse to stay ordinary. Set in a lived-in city neighborhood of local businesses, old relationships, and long memories, the series offers warm, low-violence whodunits, recurring characters, and fair-play mysteries built from language, records, routines, and the details people miss.
