Simon Brandon is a British author based in Derbyshire, England. His debut novel, Sinbiosis, is a dark psychological thriller set against the backdrop of Oxfordshire during the summer of 1996, when Britpop ruled the airwaves, England dreamed of European football glory, and life seemed considerably simpler than it does today. Drawing on his own experiences of working in the hospitality industry during the 1990s, Simon blends nostalgia, dark humour and ordinary, recognisable characters with stories that take increasingly unsettling turns. He has a particular fascination with the darker side of human nature, the decisions people make when circumstances spiral out of control, and the surprisingly thin line between everyday normality and something altogether more sinister. When he's not writing, Simon enjoys music, travel and walks with his wife Helen and dog Buffy. Preferably when the walk ends at a pub. Sinbiosis is his first published novel, with more stories in development.
