Divyanshi Rajput

Message

I’m Divyanshi Rajput. I write fiction, poems, and open letters, which means I spend quite a lot of time deciding what someone should say, then wondering whether they would have the courage to say it. My books include *Hearts That Met Too Soon* and *Om-Neer*. Naming a book is a strange experience. You put a title on something that has occupied your head for months, put your own name beneath it, and hope a stranger will open it. There’s something very hopeful about that arrangement. I like being on both sides of it. I’m interested in people whose feelings don’t quite agree with their decisions. The ones who mean well and still get things wrong, who can explain everyone except themselves. When I write about love, memory, or loss, I usually end up asking who remembers what happened differently, and why. It makes writing a simple conversation unnecessarily difficult. It also makes me want to keep going. My reading moves between classics, contemporary fiction, and Hindi novels. Kafka and Dostoevsky are writers I return to, although I wouldn’t want either of them in charge of cheering me up. I enjoy books that let me disagree with them and characters I’m still trying to understand after the story is over. This is where I share my books and the thoughts that haven’t found their way into one yet. You’re welcome to read, disagree, or tell me I’ve been unfair to a character. I may have a defence ready. I may also realise you’re right.
